Dear Wildcat Nation,
It’s hard to believe that we are only 5 weeks away from kick off. Time truly does fly by. This past week was moratorium week where coaches and players had some time off. In the future as we build a program of excellence, this will be the best time for any family vacations. Our staff and players gelled together nicely during Wildcat camp. I am very excited about our coaching staff and team this year. We have had tremendous buy in from our coaches and players and this is evident with an average of 60 players participating in our summer program.
All of our athletes hard work this summer will pay off during our Cat Combine testing from 9-11:00 a.m. this week. We will test on the areas of speed, agility, quickness and strength over the week. We will also honor our Iron Cats who did not miss a single summer work out.
Our focus this week is on the youth program. Our high school coaching staff hold a youth clinic for the Westview youth program. We will teach our high school drills and systems. This is a great opportunity for us to work with future generations of Wildcats and a special time for us to work together as one Westview football program. I encourage you to come out and watch, meet our coaches and buy some Wildcat fan fare for the season. All dates for parents and players can be found on our calendar. Hello Wildcat Nation,
We are in the middle of a strenuous SAQ program to prepare the boys for Metro League competition. It is very important for our kids’ safety to prevent injuries. Barry Dillard has done an outstanding job with our athletes preparing them for the upcoming football season.
Last weekend the Westview community celebrated the life of former Wildcat Beau Bradley Brooks with family, friends and former teammates. We will be dedicating this season to Beau and the team will be wearing BBB stickers on their helmets.
Last week we competed against Lakeridge, Clackamas and Madison during 7 on 7 passing league. It was a thrill for me to watch the kids compete and continue to develop technique for the fall. Our next passing league event will be this Tuesday at West Linn at 6:00 p.m.
We are excited to launch our Westview High School Sponsorship Package to the community. Our goal is to embrace the community and encourage involvement in our high school and on Friday nights. We want to create a special atmosphere on Friday night at Wildcat Stadium. Thanks to the following sponsors for committing to the Westview Football Program.
Les Schwab Tire Center
Ron Tonkin Acura
Sunset Oral Surgery
If you know of any businesses that would like to become a sponsor, please contact Bob Josephson at email@example.com
Seven weeks two days until kick off. We are chomping at the bit to get going.
We had another very successful camp with our Cat Combine. We had over 71 kids testing on areas of speed, agility and quickness. This is a great lead in to our summer SAQ camp. With hard work and discipline, the SAQ camp will help our kids improve these numbers. The SAQ program begins on Monday June 22nd. Each week our training helps build our kids physicality to contribute to their safety on the field and success in the tough Metro League and State.
I want to personally thank the community’s effort supporting our athletes in the lift-a-thon. We raised a total of 4,000 dollars which will go towards a state of the art functional training rack for our weight room. Our kids are very excited about this.
This week will be our offensive and defensive install week to prepare for Passing League. All 20 of our coaches report Monday and are fired up and ready to get started and implement our systems. We are also excited to link up with our youth program during our Westview Youth SAQ Camp led by Coach Dillard. This camp will prepare youth for the High School Strength and Conditioning Program. Thanks to all those who have volunteered their time. It is going to take the entire community to reach our vision of “Expecting Excellence”.
What an exciting week for Westview Football! Energy and motivation remains high all week and the kids gave an all out A effort in the camp. We were very pleased with the turn out (over 71 kids). We want to continue this momentum into the summer with workouts and camps to prepare our kids bodies for the Metro League.
We spent Sunday volunteering with the Special Olympics and it truly was a rewarding experience for us all. We will continue to look for ways to stay involved in our community.
We are in the process of building our Booster Club. The mission of our Booster Club is to build first class stadium and weight room facilities and to get the community involved at the high school. If you would like to get involved, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Monday after the upcoming Finals Week, we will begin our Cat Combine. Our athletes will test in the 40yd dash, shuttle run, vertical, broad jump and weight room. This is an exciting time for our coaching staff and athletes as we continue to pursue excellence in this program.
